This notice explains what personal information Brightline Electrical collects through this website, why, how long we keep it and your rights.
Who we are
Brightline Electrical is an electrical contractor based in Ilkeston. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

What we collect
- Enquiries: if you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you give it) and your message.
- Technical information: our web server records basic details of each visit - your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser type - to keep the site secure and working.
- Spam protection: with each enquiry a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address is stored, so abuse can be spotted without keeping the address itself.
Cookies and tracking
This website doesn't use cookies, advertising or third-party trackers, so there's no cookie banner. To see which pages are useful, our server keeps simple visit counts: which pages are viewed, which website linked here, and whether a phone or computer was used. These counts never store your IP address, don't use cookies and can't identify you.
Why we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry and, if you ask, to quote for or carry out work. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
- To keep the website secure and prevent abuse. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the website and its visitors.
How long we keep it
- Website enquiries: deleted automatically 12 months after they're received. If you become a customer, we keep what we need to carry out the work and meet our legal obligations.
- Web server logs: deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Backups: kept for up to 14 days, then deleted.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information or share it for marketing. Our website is built, hosted and maintained for us by ClearLeeWeb, which acts as our data processor and stores website data in the UK on secure servers provided by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, only on our instructions. Your information is not transferred outside the UK. We may also disclose information where the law requires us to.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or stop using it, or give it to you in a portable format. To make a request, contact us. We'll respond within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
